Tournaments represent trends and interpretations of the game by chess players. They belong to a particular era.

It would be ideal to analyze the different stages of the tournament and at different levels, but it’s a start.

In total, each competitor will play 11 games in the FIDE Grand Swiss 2025.

There are 116 players, so 58 games are played each day.

After the third day of play, the following table shows a summary of the results and percentages for white and black.

Total number of games won, lost or drawn in the FIDE Grand Swiss 2025
Games White wins Black wins Draws % White % Black % Draws
232 58 36 138 25 15.5 59.5

This other table shows the openings and variations of the openings that have been used during this Swiss System tournament.

The Sicilian Defense and the Queen’s Gambit Declined have been the most played openings so far. Together, out of 232 games played, they add up to 84.

Few games have been played so far, but as you can see, Black has had good results with the Caro-Kahn and the Ragozin variation of the QGD.

White has benefited from the QGD after the move 4.Nf3, also from the QGD line leading to 5…c6, from the Canal-Sokolsky attack of the Sicilian Defense, and from the classic attack of the Petrov Defense.
